I tend to replace these whenever I pull an old one off. They don’t hold up too well to the torque wrench with multiple installations. They do what they do well and allow the fore end to be swapped easily. For what they cost, buy a new one and curse less.

This barrel nut and rail mounting systems are one of the best designs on the market. You can't go with BCM.

So, I decided to pull the trigger and build my own AR. Friends of my pointed me to BCM products due to their reliability and just flat out coolness. During my build I decided to use some other tool to get the barrel nut off while following the handguard instructions. Boy was I wrong! The other tool caused some really nasty burrs and almost made the barrel nut not come off. Anyway, besides that, this barrel nut is great. Works well with BCM branded handguards. Just remember, use the BCM barrel nut tool

excellent design and easy to use

I had to purchase a replacement because the existing nut got damaged during removal. The tool provided with my handguard is too shallow and doesn't sit deep enough for it to engage evenly when removing.
