This is another item, I suggest keeping a spare. The AR15 will perform, with just (1) gas ring in place. But, after about 3,000 rounds, they should be replaced.

I'm not some tactical operator, I'm a suburban middle aged guy who likes to shoot steel targets at 200 yards on the weekends. I'm also an NRA range safety officer who routinely watches AR15 shooters encounter problems. By far the most common functional issue related to the gas system. You wouldn't believe the stubborn attitudes I encounter when I offer suggestions to resolve short stroking, FTE, etc.

With rings being so inexpensive, and yet so important, you need to keep a few spares in your kit.
