SAM-R barrel with Service Match Heavy Contour
I replaced my varminter barrel with the BCM 20" 410 SS 1:8 and recently printed 1/4" 5-shot groups at 100y with handloaded 77g SMK in front of XBR 8208. 2690'/sec. This barrel with a new BCM bolt and an old Bushmaster Upper and carrier out shoot my Larue OBR 7.62. Great job Bravo Company, wherever you sourced this barrel from. It came hand lapped, performed no break-in, now about 500 rounds down the tube and still shoots 1/4" with my latest load.
I've shot about 500 rounds through this barrel now, and with handloads and match ammo, I frequently get 1/2 MOA groups at 100. It's shot 3/4" groups all the way to 500 yards with handloaded 77gn and 69gn HPBT when the shooter does his part. It even shoots M855 and M193 pretty decent. Great barrel, you can't go wrong.
Christmas present from my wife. First group at 100yds was 1.5" from 55gr. V-Max. 75 Hornady BTHP and H4895 at .8" and .52" What more could you ask for? Very heavy barrel and outstanding finish. Easy cleanup after the first range session. Love the dimple under the barrel opposite the gas port. It lined right up with the first screw on my MI low profile gas block and just clears under the Hogue FF tube.
I was building a NM service rifle and was considering a $450 Lilja barrel. However, this barrel looked too good not to give it a try. Am I glad I did. Right off the bat shooting 55 gr. non-match grade ball this rifle was turning in MOA groups at 200 yards with standard A2 sights and old man eyes. I was shooting at my and the ammo's limit for certain and no barrel at ten times the price would have tightened up the groups any more. During clean up one could not help but notice the inside was slicker than a puppy's nose and even after 60 rounds, ten passes with a patch soaked in CR-10 had every trace of copper removed from the barrel. Bravo for BCM on this barrel.
